UNRELIABLE EVIDENCE
— Nico Krijno's photographs act as "a stage, rather than a window into the world."
South African artist NICO KRIJNO uses an “electro-bricolage process” to make ephemeral performances for the camera lens. Krijno describes the rectangular frame of the photograph, and the page, as a “stage, rather than a window into the world.” His books and photographs offer views into the corners of constructed worlds – where matter, materials, natural phenomena and technology elide the physical envelope of our current times. Krijno sees publishing is a way of framing his excessive production; for Version Issue 1, he rescans a series of works previously exhibited on the pages of magazines.
