— Image-making of the future with Katie Bret-Day & Hannah Rose
KATIE BRET-DAY reimagines consumer tech packaging as expanded tactile constructions derailed from their contents. “Rethinking ideas around production, protection, durability and desire,” fragile surfaces are printed, cut, folded and reconstructed by hand. Documented as a series of still life compositions by photographer HANNAH ROSE, the works are haunted by technology yet propose autonomy from their abstracted contents. “By giving the packaging more identity or ‘uniqueness’ does it start to shift ideas of value and desire we hold for these objects?”
